Bio

Brad has received a new Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating. He has joined a select group of lawyers recognized for their legal ability and professional ethical standards. He is the only Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rated attorney in San Benito County.
Brad is the Manager of L+G’s Hollister office, overseeing a variety of business and litigation matters in San Benito County. In addition, Brad is a member of the litigation team at L+G, having been involved in more than fifty jury trials, successfully representing individuals, corporations and public agencies not only on the Central Coast, but state-wide and nationally in the area of food safety and foodborne illness litigation.

His civil trial experience includes food safety (product liability) issues, professional negligence, products liability, construction defect, land use, environmental contamination and commercial litigation. He has also tried cases in state and federal courts relating to the California Environmental Quality Act, United States Clean Water Act and EPA-CERCLA Superfund matters. Brad has been involved in most major food borne illness outbreaks on the West Coast over the past fifteen years, as well as representing clients in recalls and market withdrawals that did not result in illnesses.

Prior to joining L+G, Brad spent more than twenty years in general civil practice and as the City Attorney for Sutter Creek. He has provided special and general counsel services to other public agencies such as River Pines Public Utility District, Union Public District, Mace Meadows Community Services District and the Bear Valley Sewer and Water Districts.

Brad received his Juris Doctor Degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1983. Prior to law school, Brad studied at Brigham Young University and subsequently graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in Economics.

In addition to his legal career, Brad conducts training sessions in Food Safety and on the Brown Act and conflict of interest law for the California School Boards Association, teaches Agriculture Law at Hartnell College and local agency staff and has been a speaker at the League of California Cities. He is a fifth generation Californian, whose family still owns one of the state’s oldest family farms – Jack Tone Ranch. He enjoys bicycling and sports.
