Attorney David Balch received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in New York in 1992, and his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. in 1995 (Magna Cum Laude, Order of the Coif). He clerked for Judge Frank Magill of the United States Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit.
Balch’s practice emphasizes complex litigation and all aspects of trial and appellate practice in the fields of business and real estate litigation, governmental litigation, land use, CEQA and personal injury.
Balch has significant experience with large, complex commercial litigation, having spent six years in practice with large firms in New York City, first with Cravath, Swaine and Moore (one of the nation’s pre-eminent law firms), and then with O’Sullivan LLP.
He moved to Monterey County in 2002, where he has continued to use his “big firm” experience and skills to assist his clients in a variety of industries, including developers, agricultural companies, large and small business owners, public entities, and more.
Balch is married with three children. For 10 years, he was the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salinas. He now volunteers his time as PTO President at Lincoln Elementary School in Salinas.
