Public Agency

L+G is experienced in both sides of Public Agency and Education Law. Although our clients are frequently private companies and individuals, we have developed an expertise in the public agency side of the law as well. The firm currently acts as the contract City Attorney for two California cities and represents several school districts in general or special counsel capacities. In addition to our current representations, L+G attorneys have significant experience representing municipal, healthcare and other special districts, public utilities, and education agencies.

Partner Bradley W. Sullivan has served for more than 22 years as City Attorney for various public agencies, including the City of Sutter Creek, the City of Hollister, and the City of Greenfield. E. Soren Diaz adds several years of experience representing school districts and offices and boards of education in Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz Counties.

Because of our lengthy experience as general and special counsel for public agencies throughout the State of California, our attorneys have earned significant experience in a variety of legal fields. We understand the legal aspects of various fields of law that public agencies frequently deal with and the additional considerations that public agencies face that private clients do not, including prevailing wage rules, collective bargaining, administrative liability, civil rights violations, and land use planning.

Specifically, our firm has experience representing public agencies for a wide array of issues, including collective bargaining negotiations, redevelopment, right of way acquisition, compliance with state and federal regulatory schemes like the California Environmental Quality Act and the National Environmental Protection Act, leasing, Brown Act and the California Public Records Act, construction, and permitting matters for local, state, and federal projects.
